20th Panhellenic Rhinology Congress

Dear colleagues,

The 20th Panhellenic Rhinology Congress of the Hellenic Rhinological and Facial Plastic Surgery Society will feature some different elements compared to previous ones.

At the recent Congress of the Panhellenic Society, we all became aware of the challenges faced by the Society, which are also a result of the numerous scientific events organized. We believe this practice has led to decreased support for our events and, consequently, has placed most societies — primarily the Panhellenic — in a financially difficult position. The Boards of Directors of the Rhinological Society, both in good times and in challenging ones, have worked to ensure the Society’s financial self-sufficiency without compromising on scientific standards. We trust that this approach will be followed by the new Board that will emerge from the electoral and accountability assembly to be held during the 20th Panhellenic Congress.

Through an agreement co-signed by all the scientific societies in our specialty, we collectively decided that in 2020 the Panhellenic Society would not organize a seminar, and in 2021 the thematic societies would refrain from hosting corresponding events. The Panhellenic Congress will include round tables organized by the Panhellenic Society, with the participation of the Hellenic Society of ENT Allergy, Immunology and Sleep Disorders, the Hellenic Society of Phoniatrics and Swallowing Disorders, and the Panhellenic Society of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.

If we approach our problems rationally, support the Panhellenic Society consistently — even through something as simple as our membership contribution — and prioritize the “we” over the “I,” we will soon have strong societies across all areas and scientific events of high caliber.

Within this spirit and mindset, we invite you to participate and support our efforts at the Congress we are organizing on October 9–11, 2020, at the Eugenides Foundation.
